An Early Screening of the Film, "Beautiful Boy," Starring Steve Carell

Eventbrite Header_book.jpg

Being Adept, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the prevention of substance abuse among our youth, presents an early screening of Beautiful Boy (2018) followed by a reception. The movie is based on the memoirs Beautiful Boy: A Father's Journey Through His Son's Addiction by David Sheff and Tweak: Growing Up on Methamphetamines by his son, Nic Sheff. David and Nic are friends of our organization. We are excited to screen this powerful film before it opens across the country.

Beautiful Boy is a 2018 American biographical drama directed by Felix Van Groeningen. Starring Steve Carell, Timothée Chalamet, Maura Tierney, and Amy Ryan, it chronicles the strained relationship between a father and son over the young man's poly-substance addiction.

A reception with beverages and light fare will follow the film. This will feature a young adult panel sharing their stories of addiction, as well as an expert in the field, Dr. David E. Smith, the Founder of the Haight Ashbury Free Clinics, Past President of the American Society of Addiction Medicine, Chair of Addiction Medicine at Muir Wood Adolescent and Family Services and a contributer to the book Beautiful Boy. This event is a fundraiser for Being Adept.

The film will be shown at 6:30pm at:

CineArts at Sequoia
25 Throckmorton Avenue
Mill Valley, CA 94941

The reception follows from 8-9pm at:

Piazza D'Angelo
22 Miller Avenue
Mill Valley, CA 94941

We hope you can make it!
